History and Goals
The Canadian Vocal Academy
was founded by Ian Garratt
in early 1978, and has been operating ever since that time
to train and equip singers to sing professionally in many
different styles of music. The repertoire of his students
encompasses everything from pop to rock and classical to
jazz. Whether the students need lessons in vocal technique
or coaching in style and interpretation, our studio will
provide the necessary skills to accomplish their goals.
We
provide hands on piano accompaniment while preparing songs
to be sung in performance, as well as coaching with C.D.
background to eventually record demos and complete records
in professional studios. Our ultimate goal is to ensure
that when a singer performs in public, or enters a recording
studio to record, that they will have mastered all the necessary
skills to sound like a professional.
The Canadian Academy of Vocal
Music is not only geared to professional musicians
but beginners also. As a hobby, or as a goal, we offer the
appropriate program for you. With students starting as young
as seven he prepares people of all ages for performances,
examinations, recordings, or the personal enjoyment of learning
how to sing properly.
